The Gal Who Didn’t Like Musicals

Paula, who hates musicals more than anything, leads a completely “normal,” average life. She works in a boring office with a bunch of crazy coworkers in the small town of Hatchetfield and is completely satisfied with her life. But one day, after a meteorite crashes into the town theater, people suddenly start singing and dancing in the streets. And Paula’s friends gradually start doing it too. An absolute nightmare for Paula! Now she has to fight her way out of the musical-infected town with her coworkers (and the cute barista Emma). But what happened to the people of Hatchetfield? And why are they so determined to make Paula part of the musical?

"The Gal Who Didn't Like Musicals" is a horror comedy directed and performed by the musical theater group Vorgewaschen. Vorgewaschen is a university theater group at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and will also be making its debut on the P1 theater stage with the premiere of “The Gal Who Didn’t Like Musicals” on July 15, 2026.
The original work, “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” (2018), is a musical by the American theater group StarKid Productions, which is best known for its original musical parodies based on popular stories. 

Accessibility
Two support staff members will be on site every evening. Unfortunately, the venue is not architecturally accessible.
There is a low-stimulation quiet area in the basement where you can retreat. There you’ll find water, headphones, stimming toys, and other items for your personal comfort.
Notices regarding sensory stimuli will be posted in the lobby.
You are welcome to leave the room during the performance and return later. Accessible restrooms will be clearly marked in the adjacent buildings, the Philosophicum and the Georg-Forster Building. We offer seating for wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments.
There is also an early-boarding option, which allows you to enter the performance hall before the rest of the audience.
