StereoPop! Zwei Chöre - Dresden meets Köln

On German Unity Day, the stage at the Bergischer Löwe becomes a meeting place for voices from East and West: Vocano from Dresden and popCHORköln are teaming up to present a double concert that showcases pop in all its facets—sometimes powerful and rousing, sometimes tender and moving. Always a cappella, always powerful.

StereoPop—that’s two choirs, two distinct styles, one shared sound. Especially in times of crisis, uncertainty, and division, we celebrate what unites us: voices, emotions, and the power of music. A concert that brings people together and inspires a love for choral music—an evening of rich, full-range sound.

About VOCANO

When individual voices merge into a greater whole and the beat makes every fiber of your body vibrate—that’s when VOCANO (vəˈkeɪnoʊ) takes the stage.
Powerful, moving, and authentic: VOCANO (formerly Jazzchor Dresden) presents electrifying and rousing vocal pop sounds that invite you to linger and join the celebration. With groovy beatbox rhythms, authentic performances, and the power and passion of its singers, VOCANO knows how to thrill its audience with multifaceted original arrangements as well as songs penned by well-known figures in the European a cappella scene, creating unforgettable musical moments.

Among the highlights of the choir’s history since its founding in 2012 are—in addition to its renaming to VOCANO in 2024—the release of the two albums “DEBÜT!” in 2018 and “Part of us” in 2023, as well as winning first prize in the Jazz/Pop category at the German Choir Festival in 2025 and receiving the award for the most inspiring interpretation of a piece at the international Aarhus Vocal Festival in 2026.

About popCHORköln

popCHORköln— that’s over 60 voices, plenty of passion, and a big dose of Cologne vibes. Their thing? Pop music in vocal form! But that’s not all: in addition to well-known hits, the choir also brings rock, indie, and hidden gems from outside the mainstream to the stage—including its own sophisticated a cappella arrangements by choir director Niklas Genschel.

Born in 2013 from an idea at a shared-apartment party (yes, really!), the choir has quickly become one of the most exciting ensembles in Cologne and the surrounding area. Concerts, media appearances at Gamescom or on ZDF’s *Magazin Royale*, elaborate video projects—the group has really made a name for itself.

Performing under the name popCHORköln since 2023, the choir delivers a mix of sophisticated music and authentic stage presence, thrilling an audience that has been growing for years. In short: pop music that gets under your skin—and is a lot of fun.
