Stephan Zinner - "Großstadtblues"

After 25 years in the big city, I still haven't really settled in… so at some point you start to wonder: Is it me—or is it everyone else? 

Stephan Zinner isn’t going to buy a yoga mat or a road bike, and ramen soup isn’t going to be his favorite meal either. He’s pretty sure he’s not the leggings type. But he’s trying hard not to stand out any further. Or is he, after all, still trying to find his rhythm among all the guys with little mustaches and self-improvement plans? Is this already a midlife revolution? We’ll see! 

He takes his audience on a musical and satirical journey through the perfectly normal madness of modern everyday life. 

“Big City Blues” tells of the never-ending struggle with updates that nobody needs, of over-optimized free time, and the quiet longing for a simpler life—somewhere between a campground and a dead zone. In the big city, everyone has everything—except time. And that’s managed through apps that tell you to relax now—and yet he stays there. There must be a reason. 

With his guitar, pointed lyrics, and a keen sense of the absurdities of our time, Zinner tells the stories of people trying to somehow keep up in an ever-faster world—or at least pretend to. 

Stephan Zinner 

was born in 1974 in Trostberg, Upper Bavaria. After training as an actor, he worked in theater, including at the Salzburg State Theater and the Munich Kammerspiele. He appears regularly on television (including as an investigator on “Polizeiruf 110” and as a pastor in “Himmel Herrgott Sakrament”); in the film adaptations of the Rita Falk crime novels, he plays the role of the butcher Simmerl. He also gained recognition for his portrayal of Markus Söder in the Nockherberg Singspiele. In 2026, he made his debut there as a Lenten orator. Since 2006, he has been touring with his cabaret shows, either solo with accompanying musicians or as a duo with Hannes Ringlstetter and Stefan Leonhardsberger.
