In the organizer's words:
Facilitated by Thesea Rigou and Riley Davidson, this workshop invites participants to explore the exhibitions through movement and physical resonance. Over the course of two hours, Riley and Thesea will guide participants through individual and group exercises inspired by specific artworks and themes from the exhibitions.
The workshop is open to all abilities - no prior experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable, movement-friendly clothing and shoes. Meeting point is the counter in the entrance area of KW. The main language of the workshop is English.
Thesea Rigou (they/them) is a Cypriot interdisciplinary artist, educator and gardener based in Berlin. Rigou's artistic practice focuses on socio-ecological issues and combines installations, performances and printmaking through an interweaving of theoretical exploration and material experimentation. As an art mediator, Rigou enjoys creating safer spaces for critical exchange and political debate, drawing on experience from collaborative and self-organized projects.
Riley Davidson (they/them) is an American interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin, working at the intersection of performance, ritual and social critique. Davidson has experience in butoh, clowning, contemporary dance and queer performance formats such as drag, burlesque and ritual performance. In his work with participatory theater and experience design, Davidson uses physically anchored forms of political education through ritual and myth adaptations. As a self-proclaimed "feral artist", the work is site and community specific and is an affective response to social topographies as well as an engagement with the structures that govern our lives.
This format was originally conceived by Alvin Collantes and Thesea Rigou.
