Same Kids. Just Louder - Tour 2026
Guests: Don't Try, Defiance
Hailing from the underground hardcore scene in Duisburg, SLOPE channel heavy grooves, raw aggression and the spirit of crossover from the late 80s and early 90s. On October 14, the band, which draws on the same DNA as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine and the Beastie Boys, can be seen in Stuttgart at Im wizemann.
SLOPE 's relationship with live music was formed early on in rooms where the shows were brutal, chaotic and magnetic at the same time - which taught the band that intensity and honesty are more important than perfection. Their early releases "Helix" and "Losing Grip" were deeply rooted in hardcore culture and focused on heavy grooves, unabashed aggression and movement rather than concept or perfection. Even then, rhythm and groove were combined with a more colorful, edgy approach - both visually and sonically - that foreshadowed the broader palette that was to follow.
With their first LP "Street Heat", SLOPE consciously expanded their sound. Hardcore became one influence among many, while funk, hip-hop, grunge and 90s crossover elements took on a more prominent role. The album combines playfulness and groove without sacrificing heaviness, resulting in a sound that feels both raw and unconventional. Beyond the music, "Street Heat" marked a visual and artistic turning point. DIY aesthetics, self-built sets and hands-on video concepts made the record a broader creative project that blurred the lines between music, art and performance.
This openness was taken even further on "Freak Dreams". More layered, confident and refined, the album propelled SLOPE beyond the confines of the underground and into a broader musical landscape. While groove and physicality remained central, songwriting and structure became sharper, allowing the band to explore a broader sonic spectrum without losing their edge.
On their upcoming album "The Same Kids Just Louder", SLOPE refine the chaos that has always defined them. While "Street Heat" and "Freak Dreams" were open and impulsive, the new album gives this energy a clearer form. Built on relentless energy and unashamed fun, the songs are packed with raps and riffs, funk and flow, hooks and heaviness, grooves and grime - but this time with more room to breathe. Repetition is welcomed, grooves are allowed to unfold and the tracks seem more direct and physical, not because less is happening, but because the essential elements have more weight. The sound is more focused without losing any of its curiosity: It's the same drive, just sharpened and amplified. The Same Kids Just Louder is not a slogan, it's a summary.
