Here's what it's all about

The longing to avoid death, to halt aging, or even to reverse it, is as old as humanity itself. Youth is supposed to be endless; death, surmountable. The metaphor of the fountain of youth leads the BKM Performance collective to the swimming pool at the Senior:innen-Residenz am Dom in Cologne. The result is a performance that brings together artists, residents, and the audience.

The piece challenges authoritarian structures and the culture of longevity, which treats health and longevity as a private matter. The residence’s wellness area becomes a space for transformation and confrontation. Together with Benze C. Werner and Mona Sachße, BKM Performance creates a performative universe in the water featuring powerful dance, rousing arias, and mythological narratives. “She Doesn’t Look Her Age” is a queer-feminist exploration of the promise of immortality and its impact on humanity.
