As part of the "Sounds of Ukraine" festival, pianist Violina Petrychenko and violinist Kateryna Kostiuk invite you to a special evening of chamber music at the Aula St. Aposteln in Cologne on June 5.

The concert combines the sound worlds of two extraordinary composers - the Ukrainian late Romantic composer Serhij Bortkiewicz and the Polish composer Karol Szymanowski. Their music tells of longing, beauty, inner turmoil and the search for one's own cultural voice in a turbulent European history.

Serhij Bortkiewicz, born in Kharkiv, spent a large part of his life in exile. His works combine lyrical depth with virtuoso expressiveness and are among the most impressive rediscoveries of Ukrainian music. Karol Szymanowski, on the other hand, is considered one of the most important Polish composers of the 20th century. His music combines late-romantic colors with impressionistic sounds and a unique poetic atmosphere.

On this evening, Violina Petrychenko and Kateryna Kostiuk will present a finely tuned program full of emotional intensity and chamber music elegance - a musical encounter between Ukrainian and Polish culture.
