Science Slam Freiburg!
In the organizer's words:
Science that’s accessible, exciting, and laced with a dash of humor— that’s exactly what the Science Slam Freiburg is all about. Instead of traditional lectures, the audience can look forward to a varied evening where young researchers present their scientific projects in creative ways. Whether it’s surprising experiments, personal stories, or astonishing findings: here, research comes to life and becomes tangible.
Freiburg offers the ideal setting for this format. The city is known not only for its high quality of life and proximity to the Black Forest, but also for its strong science and innovation scene. Freiburg enjoys an outstanding reputation, particularly in the fields of sustainability, the environment, and renewable energy. So it’s no wonder that new ideas and scientific curiosity have a firm place here.
At the Science Slam, five early-career scientists each present their research in ten minutes. The challenge: to explain complex topics in a way that’s understandable even without prior knowledge. Creativity and entertainment are expressly encouraged. Topics can range from medicine and technology to psychology and climate research.
What makes this event format special is the active role of the audience. After all the presentations, the audience decides which talk they found most inspiring. The result is an evening full of new perspectives, surprising facts, and inspiring insights into the world of science.
The Freiburg Science Slam proves that research isn’t just important—it can also be entertaining—and that the most exciting discoveries sometimes begin on a stage.
