Upcycling means taking a material or object and, viewed objectively, turning it into something of higher value—enhancing its worth. The opposite would be “downcycling.” That means lowering an object’s value by one level on the value scale—or, in the worst case, disposing of it.
The latter usually happens to avocado pits when the fruit is eaten (admittedly, some pioneering souls plant them and even try to conjure up an equal: an avocado plant).
