For Cariocas—the residents of Rio de Janeiro—a Roda de Samba is much more than a concert. It’s a way of life, a gathering, a reminder of home.
Connection, longing, joy. In a relaxed atmosphere, musicians of all generations, sambistas, friends, and lovers of Brazilian music come together. They sing together, have a drink, laugh—and the samba goes on well into the night.
It’s exactly this feeling that the Roda de Samba do Alemão—led by Chris Quade Couto, Maxim Zettel, Nego Dó, Tam Silva, and Jonivon Freitas—brings to Cologne on a regular basis. This time, they’ll be joined by some good friends and top-notch musicians from Belgium.

Culinary delights will also take us back to Brazil: salgadinhos, Brazilian snacks, and other specialties from Luzes do Brasil will bring the authentic sabor do Brasil right to the heart of Cologne.

And when the live music slowly winds down, the night is far from over: DJ PR takes over and keeps the party going until the early morning hours—samba, pagode, baile funk, and Brazilian vibes até amanhecer.

What used to be an insider’s tip has long since become a firm institution—loved by Cologne’s samba fans as well as by the Brazilian community in North Rhine-Westphalia and beyond.
