“A Summer Night’s Swing”: RMS Jazz Orchestra feat. Anna-Marija Kleimann (vocals)

To mark the end of summer, the Jazz Orchestra of the Rheinische Musikschule Köln presents a
a captivating yet relaxed program featuring swinging arrangements from the Basie
school. The band is especially looking forward to welcoming guest vocalist Anna-Marija Kleimann,
who, with her energetic voice, will pay tribute to the great voices of jazz—above all Ella
Fitzgerald and her groundbreaking collaboration with Nelson Riddle—with her energetic voice.
Born on the North Sea island of Norderney, Anna-Marija Kleimann is a singer
who bridges jazz, chanson, and soul, telling stories through her voice. Her singing is
on great emotional expressiveness, as each interpretation becomes a small
story that invites the audience on a journey.
She demonstrated this, among other occasions, as a special guest of WDR Big Band saxophonist Paul
Heller, singer Thomas Quasthoff, and in collaboration with pianist Simon
Oslender.

The RMS Jazz Orchestra, founded in 1970, is the flagship jazz ensemble of the Rhenish
Music School of the City of Cologne. An extremely professional-sounding talent incubator and
training ground for many well-known musicians in the German jazz scene. Its stars
are only too happy to accept the invitation to make music together. 
It reads like a “Who’s Who” of big-band jazz: Andy Haderer, Paul Heller, Dave
Horler, Heiner Wiberny, Julia Zipprick, Hanno Busch, Claus Fischer, Bruno Müller, Rüdiger
Baldauf, Alex Vesper, Karolina Strassmayer, Ludwig Nuss, and many others.
Since the spring of 2022, Cologne-based trumpeter Martin Reuthner has been leading the band.
