What kind of sound do you guys make? Well, that’s always the question. Nobody really wants to

be pigeonholed. But you always end up somewhere. That’s why

we’ll try to explain it a little. When we formed in 1991,

definitely influenced by bands like the Descendents, Bad Religion, Hüsker Dü, etc. Over the

years, our influences—and our musical tastes—have, of course, continued to

different directions.

It’s best if you get a sense for yourselves of what’s come of it.

Our first release was a split 7" limited to 200 copies with the Cologne hip-hop

band “Rude Poets.” They were friends and asked us if we’d be interested in

add our loud guitar music to the B-side of their single. We figured

we could show this to our kids someday and recorded our first songs

. But after a few party gigs and concerts, that wasn’t enough for us. We

recorded new songs and released two tapes on our own. Of the latter,

“and time goes by,” we sold nearly 500 copies. Then we met Carsten

Johannisbauer from Blurr Fanzine (now Oiro). He was eager to

single with us and founded Blurr Records.

In the spring of ’94, the “Cauliflower” 7” was released. 1,000 copies sold out faster than

expected. We played more and more shows, mainly with bands from the

hardcore and punk rock scenes (SNFU, Shelter, Samiam, Quicksand, etc.), but because of

our connection to BMX and skateboarding, we also started playing more and more at

contests, jams, and similar events. Our music also increasingly became the soundtrack for BMX videos from Germany, France, and even the

U.S., our music was increasingly used as the soundtrack.

In the summer of ’95, the time had finally come. Our first album, “Asparagus,” was celebrated with an

unforgettable release party, more and more people were enjoying our music, and the

gigs got bigger and more frequent. We got to know more and more great people

—whether concert promoters, bands, or audience members. We contributed songs to

various compilations, and our own tours went well.

Three years later, we celebrated the release of our next album: “Turnip.” This time, it was finally

on vinyl, including a limited edition in orange that came with a poster. After that, we continued with

tours and concerts.

But since we were all slowly but surely getting caught up in the grind of work and such,

, time for the band became scarcer. But we never wanted to call it quits

. Achim did stray for a while with Bratseth and The Kitty Melodies.

But as we all know, your first love never really goes away completely.

At the end of 2005, we decided to head back into the studio. We’d prefer to

of course with Swen Meyer, with whom we’d already recorded *Turnip* in Hamburg

. Although by that time Swen had become the in-house producer

for Grand Hotel Van Cleef and was keeping his

talented little fingers in a number of other projects, he managed to find time for us starting in May 2006. Good things take time

. So we didn’t get around to mixing and mastering our latest album, “Common Grounds” (yes, the vegetable season is

over) almost a year later. Since 2007, we’ve played the occasional concert, and at the end of 2016, all

three albums were digitally re-released via Audiolith to mark our 25th anniversary. Marc

now also plays guitar on the side for “De Ramönsche” (the “Cologne-style” Ramones) and

with the horror-punk band “Der Fluch.”

After 35 years, our lineup has finally changed. After Klaus Dyba

hung up his guitar for personal reasons, we wondered how

we should proceed. By a happy coincidence, the most obvious option

fell right into our laps. Marc’s son Magnus is taking over, so everything stays in the

family.

Marc Ehret: vocals/guitar

Michael Gerstner: drums

Magnus Ehret: guitar

Achim Launert: bass/vocals

We’re currently preparing a vinyl release of our debut album “Asparagus”

. Although the 30th anniversary has already passed, everyone can

anyone can celebrate them.
