Punkrock am Donnerstag - Die Cigaretten & The Smoking Livers

Thursday is a great day for punk rock! We’re bringing two cool new bands to Westbahnhof—bands that already have incredible swagger and stage presence.
Kicking things off are DIE CIGARETTEN (photo) from Hamburg. Riding a wave of garage, grunge, new wave, and German lyrics, they’ll take you on a journey to the smoking room. Angry lo-fi noise anthems and bizarre lyrics blend punk attitude with an indie sensibility found only in the Hanseatic city. The singer reminds us so much of Cobain.
The second act is nothing short of world-changing, just like the Joker. THE SMOKING LIVERS from Braunschweig are cheeky, unconventional, and brimming with enthusiasm. With German lyrics that are satirical, exaggerated, and often socially critical, they’ve already blown the roof off every house party.
