PRAISE THE PLAGUE...is a black metal band with a dark and all-consuming atmosphere.
Founded in 2017 by former members of Earth Ship and Ånd, Praise the Plague
their debut album—“Antagonist”—in 2018 via Black Omega Recordings, followed by the EP—“Antagonist II”—on September 13, 2019 (Argonauta Records), exactly one year later.

To bring the story of “Antagonist” to a close, Praise the Plague released “Live at Fall of Man” on September 13, 2020. Heavy, sludgy riffs paired with black-metal-style dissonance, carried by breathtaking mid-tempo drumming, underpin the depressive vocals throughout the “Antagonist” era. In 2021, the quintet signed a new contract with Lifeforce Records and released “The Obsidian Gate” on July 30. The sound evolved into a faster, more atmospheric, yet still depressive form of black metal. This album explored new depths and paved the way for a new era.

With “The Obsidian Gate” in tow,Praise the Plaguesupported well-known acts such as Wolves in the Throne Room and Gaerea, and played alongside bands like Firtan, Phantom Winter, E.L.R., and A Secret Revealed. With their latest release, “Suffocating in the Current of Time,” out February 16, 2024, via Lifeforce Records,Praise the Plaguecontinue their atmospheric black metal sound and enrich it with an aggressive and frustrated attitude. It’s no longer just about whether we’re depressed, but now also about why we are. And it’s clear that systemic forces like patriarchy and capitalism are the source of our suffering.

A SECRET REVEALED...The five-piece band from Würzburg was founded in 2012 and blends post-metal with
influences from black metal and hardcore to create a dark, cold, and oppressive atmosphere. Since their debut, they have been presenting their music throughout Germany and in neighboring countries with an intense and captivating live show—including two tours as well as the Summer Breeze Open Air in 2018 and 2023.
