Poetry Slam zur Ostbahn
In the organizer's words:
Poetry Slam on the Ostbahn
Slam culture is coming to the Oderbruch!
A balmy summer evening in the Oderbruch, good food, cold drinks, and top-notch entertainment.
On Saturday, August 15, the Kiezpoeten invite you to a poetry slam evening at the “Gasthaus zur Ostbahn”!
Look forward to an entertaining evening featuring witty stories, offbeat humor, and surprising insights. Several award-winning poets will compete against each other with their original works, delivering a diverse mix of comedy, cabaret, and modern stage literature.
It’s not a jury that decides the winner—it’s the audience with their applause!
The evening will be hosted by Ortwin Bader-Iskraut.
The Gasthaus zur Ostbahn is a 5-minute walk from the Trebnitz train station, which is accessible hourly via the RB26 from Berlin-Lichtenberg.
If the weather is nice, the stage will be moved outside!
Poetry slam combines literature with stage performance. The artists present only texts they have written themselves—sometimes humorous, sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes socially critical, or poetic.
Props are not allowed; instead, the focus is on wordplay, stage presence, and the power of the stories.
Whether it’s sharp observations of everyday life, touching stories, or rapid-fire wordplay—the diversity of the texts creates a varied evening blending comedy, cabaret, literature, and live performance.
This mix has made poetry slam one of Germany’s most successful live cultural formats for years.
Free admission; a voluntary donation is requested upon leaving.
