Pablo Ziegler Trio
In the organizer's words:
Astor Piazzolla revolutionized the tango. The influence of jazz on Nuevo Tango was at least as significant as his studies with composer Nadia Boulanger. A young pianist once played in his second quintet—a pianist who can be considered not only Piazzolla’s rightful heir, but also an innovator in his own right: Pablo Ziegler, born in Buenos Aires in 1944, has internalized the complex structures of Nuevo Tango to such an extent that he effortlessly transforms them into sensuality. In doing so, he weaves the threads of tradition from tango, jazz, and contemporary music into a delicate fabric—transparent and impenetrable at the same time. As a composer, too, he has developed his own distinctive style. He has worked with leading musicians and orchestras. But the sophistication and elegance, the wealth of ideas, and the technical skill really come to the fore in the trio: Here, everything must come together perfectly to create magical, harmonious, melancholic moments. The Pablo Ziegler Trio achieves nothing less than that.
