Lilian Steiner (Jodie Foster), an American, has been living in Paris for years and has made a name for herself there as a brilliant therapist. When her patient Paula (Virginie Efira) dies under mysterious circumstances, she is stunned. Was it really suicide, as the police are quick to assume? Or did someone skillfully help her along? Together with her ex-husband Gabriel (Daniel Auteuil), who still can’t let her go, Lilian embarks on a turbulent search for clues to unravel Paula’s mystery.
