Pia Frankenberg’s feature film debut “articulates with subtle irony the emotional and ideological entanglements of big-city neurotics in zeitgeist debates about women’s solidarity, the integration of foreigners, and private television. True to the motto “Don’t Be Afraid of Superficiality,” the film captures the outward reality of the 1980s with delightful nonchalance.” (Berlinale Retrospective 2024)
