On the traces of history. Guided tour of the history of the place in English
In the organizer's words:
The site where the Humboldt Forum stands today has a long and eventful history: a Hohenzollern residence, a parade ground, the Palace of the Republic, and a large meadow—it has always been a place of special political significance in the heart of Berlin, and at the same time a venue for artistic expression. Which themes and objects still remind us today of the past and the various historical events? And what do they reveal about the history of the site?
The overview tour encourages discussion of historical images and their impact on the present. Based on selected stops and objects, it offers insight into the history of the site—from the time of the electors, kings, and emperors to the debate over the demolition of the Palace of the Republic—and illustrates the diverse uses of the site throughout different eras.
