OEZ erinnern!

PICK OF THE DAY

You cannot miss this event.

In the organizer's words:

How Can You Hear Memories?

An event marking the 10th anniversary of the right-wing terrorist attack at the Olympia Shopping Center in Munich, in collaboration with relatives of the victims of the OEZ attack, the Munich
OEZ Remember, and the Pastinaken, a network for political education.

What forms can we find to commemorate acts of right-wing violence? What role can art and music play in this? Using their contribution to the interdisciplinary project “DisIgnoranz—Seeing Through the Fog of Racism” as an example, Nikki Georgalas and Roby Haak will show what possibilities they have discovered. They will describe what it was like to connect and collaborate through music with relatives and those affected by the right-wing terrorist attack of July 22, 2016, at the Olympia Shopping Center in Munich. They will share their experiences with the participants and explore new ways of collective remembrance.

Part of the workshop is organized in collaboration with the Munich OEZ Erinnern initiative and the Pastinaken, a network for political education. A conversation with Yasemin Kılıç, mother of Selçuk Kılıç, will focus on the right-wing attack and hopes for art and culture. The “München OEZ Erinnern” initiative, together with relatives, survivors, and supporters, is politically committed to keeping the memory of the attack alive, as well as to the fight against right-wing and racist terror.

We remember: Armela, Can, Dijamant, Guiliano, Hüseyin, Roberto, Sabine, Selçuk, and Sevda.
