The magnificent facades of Bochumer Straße still tell of Gelsenkirchen's industrial era. But a "new Gründerzeit" has long since begun in Ückendorf: Where the cast steel works and colliery once set the pace, culture, creativity and gastronomy now characterize the most exciting Cinderella story in the Ruhr region.

In the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche, an impressive video mapping transforms the vault into a luminous work of art, accompanied by electronic sounds. Outside, studios and courtyards open their doors, while restaurants and creative people invite visitors to explore. Tours lead through a district on the move, where industrial history meets new ideas. A night full of urban energy, light and lively stories.
