Chamber Music Performance with the KAP: Jacques Forestier Makes His Potsdam Debut with Music by Dvořák and Barber
The Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hanover focuses on young, curious, and unique individuals whose musical voices are deeply moving. Jacques Forestier, winner of the 2024 competition, is regarded as “a true poet with an emotional maturity that far exceeds his young age.” (The Violin Channel.)
For the Musical Salon featuring musicians from the KAP, the Canadian artist has designed a program that highlights various facets of American music against the backdrop of European tradition. Dvořák’s unusually scored trio unfolds deeply lyrical moments, while the string quartet by Brazilian composer Clarice Assad presents the colorful songs and dances of South America. Barber’s Adagio evokes a sad, melancholic mood, before Dvořák’s American Quartet sings an ode to nature with lush soundscapes.
