In the organizer's words:
Moby Live in Dresden
Moby was born Richard Melville Hall in Harlem, New York City, in 1965. Because of his family connection to Herman Melville, his father gave him the nickname Moby.
Moby began playing classical music and studying music theory at the age of 9, and then came of age musically in the early 1980s in the punk rock scene in and around New York City.
In 1991, he released his first single, “Go” (which was listed by *Rolling Stone* magazine as one of the best records of all time), and has been consistently producing albums ever since. He has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.
In addition to his own albums, Moby has also produced and created remixes for artists as diverse as David Bowie, Public Enemy, Ozzy Osbourne, The Beastie Boys, and Daft Punk, to name just a few. Moby also collaborates with and supports various nonprofit organizations, including The Humane Society, Emily’s List, the ACLU, and the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function.
Through his company Little Walnut, he has also branched out into film and television production. In addition to the award-winning documentaries “Moby Doc” and “Punk Rock Vegan Movie,” Little Walnut is planning to release its first feature film, “Tecie,” in the summer of 2026.
