The evening will kick off with the genre-blending trio Lonely Flow Crew. Musically, they straddle the lines between jazz, hip hop, blues, and dark folk (“time to discover something new”).

The second act of the evening is mars mushrooms, who—based in Middle Franconia since 1998—present their often-improvised and highly danceable jam rock (which they themselves like to call “Jamkraut”) in the tradition of the Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic, and Goose.

mars mushrooms were awarded the coveted “Rot Weiss” pop prize in Nuremberg in 2024, released their new album “Funerals and Carnivals” in 2025, and will host their fifth “Jamkraut” festival in Middle Franconia in 2026. It all sounds a bit like Franconia. Yes and no—founded in Middle Franconia in 1998, the band’s bassist has been living in Rheine for 16 years now. For the first time, the band is now heading out for a double concert on October 16 in Osnabrück (Boxmauer) and on October 17 in Rheine (Scumbar) in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Musically, the jam band draws on the tradition of American jam bands like the Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic, and Goose. Composed pieces are performed with improvisation, and the band consistently loses itself in danceable, seemingly endless, driving jams. “With these MARS MUSHROOMS, every note—no matter how deep—resonates with mind-expanding ears!” as described on Musikreview.
