In the organizer's words:
For the annual commissioned work at the Haus der Kunst, Maria VMier (born in 1985 in Passau, lives in New York) spoke with the institution’s staff and developed a three-part installation based on their memories and routines—a journey into those areas of an art institution that otherwise remain invisible. At the staff entrance, weathered facade letters form the phrase “Bauch der Kunst” (Belly of Art); in the passageway, large-format drawings capture the building as a tangible archive; and in the columns of the central hall, small aluminum castings emerge like ghostly forms. A specially produced artist’s book documents these glimpses throughout the building. An invitation to get to know the building from a side that otherwise remains hidden.
