For this special edition of “Signal Störung,” we’re shining the spotlight of LINIE 5 on one of the most important acts in the German techno scene. Emerging over fifteen years ago from Spandau’s DIY rave culture, FJAAK still follow no set plan to this day. Instead of chasing trends, Aaron Röbig and Felix Wagner seek out moments that can’t be replicated: spontaneous ideas, unexpected twists, and the productive chaos of a jam session. This approach has given rise not only to countless productions and over a thousand performances worldwide, but also to Spandau20—a network of like-minded individuals who share a common vision of how electronic music should be created and shared. Spanning warehouse techno, acid, and breakbeats, FJAAK embodies a sound that blends the past, present, and future of rave into a tangle of primal emotions.
