LIGHT DIALOGUES

For a quarter of a century, the Zentrum für Internationale Lichtkunst Unna has been transforming the underground vaults of the former Lindenbrauerei brewery into immersive experiential spaces of light, color and perception. Twelve meters underground, exhibitions are created here in which darkness, architecture and light merge inseparably. To mark its 25th anniversary, ZFIL 2026 is presenting LIGHT DIALOGUES, an exhibition dedicated to the building's central medium - light itself.

Between luminous lettering, color-intensive installations and geometric light sculptures, a multi-layered exhibition scenario of form, color and signs unfolds. Around 20 iconic works from the SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen and the Schaufler Collection by artists such as Dan Flavin, Jeppe Hein, Tracey Emin, Maurizio Nannucci, Brigitte Kowanz and François Morellet enter into a multi-layered dialog in the former brewery vaults and reveal different artistic strategies in dealing with light. Historical key works meet contemporary positions and open up new perspectives on a medium between technical precision and sensual experience.
