30 Texts Between Poetry and Punk
There’s a certain kind of person who’s born an adult. Engineers with degrees. Tax advisors. FDP secretaries-general. People named Hubert. People with souls as dusty as a half-dead cactus on the windowsill of a college dorm. Natural-born class representatives. Human incarnations of beige between-seasons jackets. The author and slam poet Knud Hammerschmidt has many qualities, but “beige” is not one of them. He was also never elected class president, which suited him just fine. In this book, he brings together his favorite stage texts and short stories from recent years.
Knud Hammerschmidt travels illegally behind the Iron Curtain with his alter egos, laments the fact that there are no men’s magazines named “Günther” or “Ulf-Torben,” and ponders the oh-so-romantic German soul. In short stories and stage plays, he sings the praises of the city of Fürth, takes a detour to the early Middle Ages to visit Alfons the Chaste, and at the same time offers lessons in Swiss German and Dutch. The book also includes the occasional romantic and contemplative interlude.
Donations for the artist are ❤️-ly welcome.
