Lebensfäden: Vom Ankommen, Bleiben und Weitergeben // Alter(n) trifft Migration

Our society is changing rapidly—and with it, the realities of life for older adults. Older adults with a history of migration, in particular, often face invisible challenges. And far too often, people have talked about them instead of listening to them. We need to bring these stories to light! What connects people—with and without a history of migration—as they grow older?

The talk “Threads of Life: On Arriving, Staying, and Passing On. Aging Meets Migration” provides a platform for people whose stories are still waiting to be told. The focus of the evening is on the guests—their life stories and experiences, and their personal perspectives on aging. Prof. Dr. Martina Brandt and Prof. Dr. Emra Ilgün-Birhimeoğlu will speak with Şahizer Alaca about perspectives on aging and migration: What bridges can encounters, understanding, and neighborhoods built on solidarity build? Let’s discover together ways to achieve more just and equitable participation in old age!

İmam Yıldırım will provide musical accompaniment for the evening.
