LACK + Tonia Reeh + Jacob Bredahl | Berlin, Neue Zukunft
In the organizer's words:
LACK are releasing their first album in 18 years and hitting the road to promote it! In Berlin, they’ll be playing on November 27 at Neue Zukunft, alongside Tonia Reeh (Monotekktoni, La Tourette) and Jacob Bredahl.
It’s been nearly two decades since the Copenhagen-based band LACK last released new music. Now they’re releasing their first album in 18 years! The self-titled album will be released on September 11 via the Dream Bureau label, and the band will be performing concerts in Denmark, Germany, and the Czech Republic to celebrate.
Over the course of eight years, Lack released three albums, played countless concerts throughout Europe and the United States, and earned a reputation as one of Copenhagen’s most distinctive and explosive bands. Both in Denmark and internationally, they are truly genre-defining as a band whose sound effortlessly shifts between post-hardcore, indie rock, and film noir—driven by Thomas Burø’s distinctive, high-pitched vocals, which are always pushed to the brink of collapse.
Then in 2008—shortly after the release of “Saturate Every Atom”—the band members went their separate ways and put Lack on hiatus. Since then, the members have played in numerous bands, including Rising, Tvivler, Total Heels, Anchorless, and No Light.
In 2021, Lack reunited. They first played two sold-out concerts in Denmark, followed later by additional shows, including a 2024 appearance at Denmark’s largest metal festival, Copenhell.
Without making any promises to each other or to anyone outside the band, Lack quietly began writing new music. At first, it was a cautious exploration of whether the collective still held artistic and personal relevance even after so many years. In the process, it becomes clear that the tension between misanthropic resignation and defiant optimism—which has always been the band’s defining characteristic—is still very much alive, and that it’s more worthwhile than ever to sing about it.
The result is nine tracks that Lack recorded live in a room of an old farmhouse in the countryside of Sjælland. The songs revolve around work as a fundamental condition of being human, and as the basic compromise inextricably linked to building a meaningful life.
Every Lack album to date represents a deliberate break from the expectations set by the previous album. Lack have never seen any point in trying to please. The new album is no exception, yet it still builds on the band’s remarkable ability to always sound unmistakably like Lack.
The nine tracks will be released on September 11, 2026, as a self-titled album on the small Copenhagen-based DIY label Dream Bureau. The album was recorded by Jacob Bredahl, mixed by Jakob Reichert Nielsen, and mastered by Matthew Barnhart.

Tonia Reeh is the enfant terrible of Berlin’s indie underground. She has a long musical history spanning indie post-rock to electro-trash, piano punk, revolutionary flamenco, and film music (Masonne, Das Zuckende Vakuum, Jagoda, Monotekktoni, La Tourette, Tonia Reeh). Previously signed to labels like Monika, Sinnbus, Clouds Hill, and Solaris Empire. Now back to DIY and performing solo under her real name. This time with an energy-efficient acoustic guitar and her voice.
Tonia Reeh performs songs from her latest album, “Blues Babies,” and other original heart-wrenching tunes: short, to-the-point stories that are feminist, anarchist, sad, poetic, and presumptuously cheeky. Always on the side of the misfits, the exploited: women, rhinos, children, octahedrons, homeless people, migrant women, guitars, losers, and prostitutes.
“You better keep your tongue inside your mouth!”
“I’m sure you don’t want to support the warlords.”
