The Italian radio landscape is not only rich in history, but also a fascinating example of the transformation of media language. The lecture offers an insight into the linguistic peculiarities of Italian radio from its beginnings to today's digital multimedia. The central question is: How does the radio speak to us - and how does it influence our language? The lecture will show how spoken language on the radio moves between spontaneity and planning, between standard Italian and regional coloration. The lecture will conclude with an outlook on the responsibility of the media and the role of listeners in a time in which radio may seem old, but is more topical than ever.
