Kulturell leben // BiMig – Bildungswege in der Migrationsgesellschaft
In the organizer's words:
Opening: Tuesday, November 17, 2026
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. | Event begins at 7:00 p.m.
The exhibition will be on view through December 18, 2026.
BiMig sheds light on the educational journeys of people with migration backgrounds. The exhibition is based on 30 interviews conducted nationwide with young people and adults from non-EU countries who have navigated—or are currently navigating—the German education system. They share their stories of arriving in a new society, their hopes and expectations, uncertainties, obstacles, and new beginnings.
What hurdles do they have to overcome, what kind of support helps them move forward, and what does educational equity mean from their perspective? These personal stories offer insights into educational realities that often remain hidden. They show that educational success stems not only from individual achievement but also from societal conditions, support, and participation.
BiMig invites you to join the conversation: How can education be made more accessible and equitable for everyone?
At the opening reception on November 17, project director Dr. Çağrı Kahveci and Aysun Tekin, director of UBV e. V. (Unternehmen.Bilden.Vielfalt), will discuss educational pathways in a society of migration together with exhibition participants and other experts. The UBV theater group “The Improssibles” will accompany the evening with a performance.
