Star tenor, heartthrob, and a true Munich native: Jonas Kaufmann remains the most sought-after tenor among the international elite. The singer is just as in demand internationally for the Italian and French opera repertoires as he is for the German one. He has sung Verdi’s “Otello” in London, Munich, and Naples, and “Aida” at the Arena di Verona, among other venues. For him, the magic lies “in the subtlety of expression.” “I’m very receptive to what music conveys,” he says, seeing it as a force that stirs emotions.

In the spring of 2027, Kaufmann will perform at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf with soprano Marina Rebeka and the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, conducted by Jochen Rieder.
