Into the Light – Music Between Light, Life, and Spirituality

A concert that moves the soul and lingers in the memory: With “Into the Light,” the NDR Vocal Ensemble invites you on a captivating musical journey through light, hope, and transience. In the unique atmosphere of the Marktkirche in Hanover, three extraordinary works by contemporary composers come together.

Under the direction of Klaas Stok, the ensemble performs Caroline Shaw’s moving *To the Hands*, Morton Feldman’s meditative *Rothko Chapel*, and Sofia Gubaidulina’s sonically powerful *Sonnengesang*. Together, they create a fascinating sonic space that spans silence and intensity, contemplation and emotional power.

Supported by soloists from the NDR Vocal Ensemble, a string quintet from the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, and Elbtonal Percussion, the concert creates an experience that makes impressive use of the Marktkirche’s exceptional acoustics, transforming music into a sensory experience.
