Oooh, I wanna dance with somebody! Rarely do you get as close to a dance performance as you do here: With *Into It*, you don’t just experience dance as something to watch or admire—you get to be part of it. And you don’t have to do much at all. All you have to do is move a little closer…

“Into It” by performing:group and Marie-Lena Kaiser is a choreography for four dancers—one that opens up: At the beginning, the audience is seated on all four sides of the stage. But little by little, you move closer: Through storytelling and brief interactions, you’re gently drawn into the performance. Bit by bit, slide by slide, the boundary shifts. Playfully and effortlessly, everything here revolves around the multifaceted aspects of social closeness. We’re free to draw closer or step back, to help support the weight of a head—or to say no. 

It doesn’t matter if this is your first time seeing contemporary dance or if you’re a seasoned veteran, or whether you’re 10 or 90 years old. “Into It” creates a series of small encounters and incorporates your suggestions into the dance. And everyone gets to experience just how much fun it is to dance together!
