breathtaking visual worlds, narrated by acting icon Katharina Thalbach, and
asks the question: Does it have to be “humans OR nature”?

How did our world come to be?
A forest may seem static, but hidden beneath our feet is a class of animals
that is far larger than any other. Our biosphere is a puzzle made up of many pieces,
with one crucial player: insects. For millions of years, they have shaped one
the most impactful co-evolutionary processes in Earth’s history. In partnership with
plants, they have shaped the diversity of our landscapes by contributing to the formation of
flowers. Insects were the first to conquer the skies, and they
created nutrient cycles and food chains that form the basis of our existence
. They survived the dinosaurs—but can they outlive us?
This cinematic journey begins around 480 million years ago and traces the complex
interconnections within ecosystems. Through striking imagery and complemented
by a sensitive narrative—narrated by Katharina Thalbach—it
a window into the microcosm of insects and their often-overlooked significance.
