Hoffest im Haus Schwarzenberg

We are here to leave our mark. Dedicated collectives, local and international actors and artists are inscribing their stories into the Hoffest - together we are creating alliances for artistic presence and participation, a place of community in Haus Schwarzenberg. To this end, the Hoffest will focus on diversity: strong networks will be created through an exhibition, participatory workshops, solo cooking, a playing field for performances and, last but not least, the lively activity of the house community, which the live acts will immerse in adventurous timbres of love, chaos and artistic freedom that defy social normativities.

The TRACE exhibition at Neurotitan is dedicated to the dialog between people and the places they live in or escape from and the environments that preserve the imprints of existence through the photographs of artists from Washington, D.C./Maryland. Various DIY workshops for all age groups will take place in the exhibition during the courtyard festival. Younger creatives can also look forward to an animation workshop at Kino Central with a world premiere on the big screen. The Eschschloraque Rümschrümp with its coffee bar and summer bar in the courtyard will be open from the start and, of course, the SNIPER Art Kiosk will also be there. Food will be provided by various committed, open initiatives that bring people together: Vétomat, Homeless Veggie Dinner, Radio Bandito.

In the courtyards, RavingMadCarlos will be causing a sensation with his combination of tech beats, keyboards, samples, voice and performance , while other soundscapes will extend across the building: The underground workshop studio Many Tentacles presents live abstract sounds with Ambient Marmelade, before the live acts take over the 3rd courtyard: Adventure, love and chaos characterize Red Money as well as a resilience that expresses itself somewhere between minimalist post-punk and abrasive garage rock. Oum Shatt combines minimal rock, post-punk, psychedelic textures and Middle Eastern timbres to create a unique sound - hypnotic, mystical, wild and danceable at the same time. Complex lyrics revolve around topics such as love, the housing market, politics, artistic freedom and power structures as well as the rejection of social expectations. Alpha Zen Taurï uses live clarinet amplification and effects to set the scene. Melody lines emerge from changing allusions - Klezmer, Western Classical, Hindustani, Free Jazz - and merge with bass-heavy sounds, repetitions and vocal fragments. Building up, layering, shifting, a space for dynamics is created under the motto Breath meets Pulse.

This is how art meets reality: in a reality on the brink that looks at wars and oppression, patriarchal social orders, reactionary and right-wing extremist structures as well as neoliberal, right-wing conservative policies, it is the traces that Hoffest lays on another world: From Washington D.C./Maryland to the Neurotitan via the Berlin off-scene into the courtyards of Haus Schwarzenberg. While the US president cultivates an administration that stands for violent oppression and inhumane policies, which FIFA honors with a peace prize, we get the ball rolling on July 4th for the independence of art - for strong alliances, cohesion and peaceful coexistence in inclusive societies of diverse realities! Because art can create hope and utopia - and that leaves its mark.
