Whether long, short or shaved, straight or curly - hair is far more than a question of style. It tells of beauty and desire, of power and powerlessness, of conformity and rebellion. Hair is a powerful means of expression - politically, religiously, culturally and personally. We use it to profess our affiliation, shape our identity or cast a spell over others. The exhibition at the Kunsthalle München invites you on a stimulating, sensual and surprising journey through three millennia of the art and cultural history of hair. Around 200 exhibits from antiquity to the present day show the impact that the seemingly mundane can have.
