Gregor Schor- Bigband: Das größte gemeinsame Vielfache
In the organizer's words:
With *Am Grund*, saxophonist and composer Gregor Schor presents a work that takes jazz seriously both in its freedom and in its formal rigor. Gregor Schor composes with the openness of a sketch artist. The pencil replaces the conductor’s baton: the lines are clearly drawn, yet they allow for correction, expansion, and spontaneity. The result is pieces that are precisely constructed on the one hand, yet open to the individual style of each musician on the other.
This band is not an orchestra that simply goes through the motions. It is a toolbox containing everything from surgical precision to a sledgehammer. At its core is a jazz album that delves deep—not into darkness, but into the space where composition and improvisation, the individual and the ensemble, freedom and form converge.
Featuring: Heinz-Dieter Sauerborn, Paul Scheugenpflug, Steffen Weber, Denis Gäbel, Roman Fritsch (reeds), Felix Blum, János Löber, Marvin Frey, Jason Schneider (trumpets), Jonathan Strieder, Jona Heckmann, Carla Köllner, Tobias Metzger (trombones), Lukas Roos (guitar), Nico Klöffer (bass), Manuel Seng (piano), Kevin Naßhan (drums), as well as Gregor Schor and Vroni Frisch (conducting).
