Presented by ArtWalk Stuttgart as part of the summer festival at AREAL SÜD, photographer Markus Schwarz presents “GEGENÜBER,” an exhibition that focuses on people—stripped down to expression, presence, and the essential.

GEGENÜBER
An exhibition of black-and-white portraits

Without color, there are no excuses.

People are at the heart of this exhibition. No landscapes, no staging, no visual distractions. Just the person across from you—reduced to expression, personality, and presence.

On July 24, 2026, the exhibition will open its doors in the courtyard of the Dinkelacker Brewery, inviting visitors to experience portraits in their purest form. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place in the brewery cellar of the Dinkelacker Brewery Restaurant.

The exhibition focuses on a direct view of people. Black and white make everything incidental disappear and create space for what matters most: the encounter with the other person.
