Freestyle Lab Barabend - Open Mic / Session

No setlists, no show. Just sound in the here and now.
We invite musicians, sound geeks, and curious listeners to an open freestyle session. An evening of spontaneous music, unexpected encounters, and creative energy.

Open mic for newcomers—original material only. Spontaneous accompaniment by musicians in attendance is possible. Or just start playing. Listen. React. Improvised, raw, and authentic.

We’re open to all genres or styles that don’t have a name yet—we’ll play whatever comes up in the moment. No rehearsals, no pressure to be perfect, no egos. Music as conversation.

Whether you’re a pro or just want to give it a try: You’re welcome to bring your music to our session.

Everything is provided on site:
an electronic drum kit, an electric piano, a PA system for bass and guitar (please don’t bring your own amps), microphones, and a sound engineer. Turntables will be added soon.

Bring your instrument, your voice, or just your curiosity. We play with feeling rather than volume—collective flow rather than noise. Whether you’re playing along or just listening: Come by, lean in, and dive right in.

Freestyle isn’t about style. It’s an attitude.

PLEASE NOTE: It is NOT REQUIRED to reserve a spot online; you’re, of course, welcome to just drop by on the spur of the moment. By making a reservation, you help us plan and prepare for the evening—from staffing the bar to purchasing supplies!

We do not reserve tables for events; seating is first-come, first-served!
