While cleaning out the basement, Tobi and Marina stumble upon an old video recording. In it, Tobi—as an 8-year-old boy—hosts a show he created himself on his favorite topic: the earth beneath our feet. The video ends with a riddle—the very first Checker question: Who leaves the most powerful traces in the soil? Tobi has forgotten the answer. And while he can’t stop thinking about that question from long ago, his childhood self suddenly appears to him. Surreal, yet real. The 8-year-old Tobi challenges the Tobi of today: Remember the answer! And prove that you’re still a Checker. The search for the answer takes him to the unique flora and fauna of Madagascar, deep into the permafrost of Spitsbergen, and on the trail of the ancient Maya to Mexico.
