The orchestra was founded in 1969 as a chamber orchestra and is now the largest student symphony orchestra among the numerous ensembles at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (Forum Musik). Together with conductor Martin Kirchharz, the orchestra hosts an end-of-semester concert at the end of each semester.
