Ensemble BonaNox: 's ist Krieg. Ein musikalisch-literarisches Programm

In its programs, the BonaNox Ensemble weaves songs, texts, and piano pieces into unusual, richly evocative contexts. Here, unexpected connections are forged between seemingly unrelated elements, bridges are built, and bold breaks are taken. The ensemble’s multifaceted programs are thus far-reaching, giving voice to works spanning many centuries.

The program “'s ist Krieg” uses songs and piano pieces from the 18th to the 20th centuries, along with texts spanning two millennia and performative elements, to guide the audience through the complex landscape of artistic reflections on war—from the Persian Wars through the Thirty Years’ War to the present day. In doing so, the stages of warfare—from preparation (including the psychological aspect) and war enthusiasm, through mobilization and battle, to the often bitter end—are illuminated through a multifaceted artistic lens.
