An evening full of sound and goosebumps
The University of Louisville Cardinal Singers are one of the most outstanding university choirs in the USA and inspire audiences all over the world on international concert tours. With precision, expressiveness and a captivating stage presence, these singers show how lively and emotional choral music can be today. They demonstrate this not only in the beautiful, death-wishing motet Komm, Jesu, komm but also in the energizing spirituals and gospel.
Most of the works are performed entirely without instrumental accompaniment. This form of singing is considered the supreme discipline of choral music. Every note, every harmony and every emotion comes from the singers' voices alone. This makes the music immediate, intense and touchingly close, because the whole body resonates! The audience does not experience sound at a distance, but in the middle of the room - direct, human and full of energy.
Under the direction of Kent Hatteberg, the choir develops a sound culture that combines technical perfection with youthful freshness.
