Bianca Walther reads from her new book "Die Vorkämpferinnen" (S. Fischer 2026), in which she portrays the early feminists of the German Empire - women who fought for education, political rights and social participation.

With historical precision and narrative flair, Walther paints a multifaceted picture of those pioneering women whose ideas and lifestyles laid the foundations for the first women's movement.

Historian Bianca Walther is known for her Instagram channel "Frauen von Damals" and the podcast of the same name, in which she focuses on the achievements and changes that historical women initiated and achieved. Together with her, we will explore the question of how women write history and how their stories are remembered, passed on and retold - questions that have occupied us for years in our #FemaleHeritage project.
