Bremen in the 1970s. More and more people, more and more cars. The future needs space; the old must make way. The “Mozarttrasse” was intended to carve a massive swath through the eastern suburbs, cross the Weser River, and adapt the city to the demands of traffic: the utopia of a future that never came to pass. Who actually decides how our cities are shaped? What is the state of democratic participation, and what are the new utopias? In an age of climate change, social challenges, and a housing shortage, how can we reinvent our cities—making them greener, healthier, and more livable? The video art collective Urbanscreen brings both the historical and future visions of Bremen to life inside the truck: On a city tour, we look at what is, what almost became, and what might have been at some point. What is a city, and how does it dream?

The vehicle used for the performances is a mobile auditorium developed by Rimini Protokoll.
