To mark the 50th anniversary of the film’s German theatrical release, we’re screening Monty Python’s absurd masterpiece, in which the comedians parody classic historical and costume dramas with their anarchic, grotesque humor—which often devolves into sheer nonsense.
The comedy troupe “Monty Python” retells the Arthurian legend—guaranteed to be nonsensical and silly!
In the year of our Lord 932: King Arthur (Graham Chapman) gathers warriors (Michael Palin, John Cleese, Eric Idle, and others) in Scotland to form his Round Table. Their divine mission: the quest for the Holy Grail. No easy task. For flying cows and sheep, the Black Knight, bloodthirsty rabbits, and marriage-hungry maidens make life difficult for them… Anyone who doesn’t care for the seriousness of typical historical epics will get their money’s worth here. The parody is brimming with nonsense and couldn’t care less about facts or literary sources.
