Das spanische Exil seit 1936 und sein kulturelles Erbe
In the organizer's words:
Nearly half a million people fled to France after the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939), many under dire conditions, while others continued on to Latin America. For most, political exile did not end until Franco’s death in 1975. What remains of this legacy? Literary scholar Mirjam Leuzinger sheds light on the historical context and questions that remain unresolved to this day. Leuzinger is a private lecturer in Romance literature and cultural studies at the University of Wuppertal, where she leads the DFG project “Autobiographical Writing and Female Authorship in Spanish Exile since 1936.” The event is part of the Days of Exile, organized by the Körber Foundation and the German Exile Archive of the German National Library.
