Cuarteto Casals
In the organizer's words:
30 Years of the Ultimate
For three decades now, the Cuarteto Casals has embodied the ultimate in the beauty of sound and depth of expression that four musicians can achieve on 16 strings. The ensemble’s sound captivates with its unmistakable clarity, which has “something fluorescent, something crystalline” (Badische Zeitung) about it. The Spanish-Catalan quartet will showcase its unbroken artistic energy on a major anniversary tour in 2026/27—with an unmissable stop at the Elbphilharmonie. The program is framed by two works by Haydn and Mendelssohn that share not only a key but also a kindred spirit: Both combined a thirst for innovation and emotional power with technical perfection to achieve flawless artistic perfection—no wonder they are considered cornerstones of the chamber music repertoire.
